REJOICE! REJOICE! REJOICE!

        GOD IS THINKING ABOUT YOU

  By: Wilma Roberson

Part 3

When did God first begin to think about us? According to Ephesians 1:4 we were chosen in him [Christ] before the foundation of the world. I really like The Living Bible translation of this verse. “Long ago, even before he made the world, God chose us to be his very own, through what Christ would do for us: he decided then to make us holy in his eyes, without a single fault- we who stand before him covered with his love. His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by sending Jesus Christ to die for us. And he did this because he wanted to!”

When I read such verses my heart bows in deep appreciation; and I rejoice knowing I am wrapped in his blanket of mercy and grace. Mercy for me when I stumble, grace for my forgiveness and for my restoration. He is truly the good Shepherd, My companion and special friend who knows everything about me and still has confidence in me that I can be molded into his image and his likeness.

1 John 3:1-3 See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is. And all who have this eager expectation will keep themselves pure, just as he is pure. NLT Bible.

As we read and meditate on verses like these our understanding of his great love for humanity grows deeper. How can anyone resist a love like that? I am persuaded that had we known or been taught these verses when we first became a follower of Christ it not only would have deepened our relationship with him, but it would have encouraged us to find out more, through prayer and Bible study, about this outrageous love he has for us as individuals.

I have heard young Christians and older discouraged ones say, “I guess God has forgotten about me.” That is a lie from the enemy of Christ and his children. He is impugning the faithfulness of our God. He would like to convince every believer that God is unfaithful and should not be trusted. But it is Satan and his minions who are the deceivers and the betrayers of believers.

Isaiah 49:15-16 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands.

Forget – shakach = shaw-kakh to forget, ignore, will not to cease to care.

He cannot forget, because of his nature, He will not forget, because of his promises. The only thing he ever forgets is our sins that we have turned away from, but he will never forget one of his own children. He cannot forget his love, or his covenant, or the promises made to us.

He holds the righteous in everlasting remembrance. Ps. 112:6
